Twin Turbo's

Hey People well first your going to wonder WTF does twin turbos have to do with an S-10? Well im currently under the project of a complete frame up custom rebuild of an 86 S-10. First off I'd like to debunk those who knock the 2.8L engine. I have gone up against V8 dakota's, V6 mustangs, and a few others. I roasted them all! This was with an 86 engine that was on its last legs (later found cracked head, pistions were tapered .002 to .01 at the top, massive oil leaks). Not to mention I went a lot of other plaes and hill climbs other trucks failed to accomplish. I bogged it through a local river, pushing water over the hood while a dakota sat in the middle dead. Mind you im incredibly suprised it didnt die cause its not snorkled. Anyway I just had the block rebuild, was oversied to .02, comp cam, powder coated pistions. Im currently at a bit of a stand still but soon to come I'll be throwing in TBI spacer, High flow TBI, High flow fuel system, and you guessed it twin garrett T3 turbo's. Now my question is running those turbo's how high of a flow injector should I be using? Air/Fuel ratio. I'll also be possibly throwing a TBI system NOS. To give any of you an idea. My truck will be 3 inch body lift, 35 inch thornbird tires, on negative set rims. Euro tails, diamond HID head lamps, clear bumper and corner lenses. Cowled Hood, heat extractors, moon visor, sun roof. Lund racerback, flush mount tonneau cover, APC downforce wing, Custom Rollpan work. Custom built Cobra Sidepipe exhaust. Ceramic coated headers. Custom paintjob. entire chassis powder coated. Frame done in an aluminium silver. Stainless brakelines, rear disc conversion. Posi rear, locker front. Shaved door handles, power windows. Custom interior. Lots more of little things, small little subtle touchs. I've been working on this for a year now, and plan to be done at the end of this year. Simply due to money contraints. I thought of doing a 350 conversion in the begginning, but after doing a lil research I decided to juice out the 173. simply cause I should be able to get a good 250hp and some wicked fuel milage. Anyway thats enough out of me for now, take care everyone and I hope to have lots of fun here.

wh ywould anybody in their right mind waste all that money on a 6 cyl. when you could have a mcuh more powerfull small block for the same amount or less.

 I'm confused as well. The 2.8 was a POS, every mechanic will tell you. If you want to be fast, why the hell are you lifting it with a 3 inch body lift and 35 inch tires? Those are gonna slow you down. And your aerodynamics is gonna be really screwed up. You will have hardly any downforce. You should lower it with some 17 or 18 inch wheels and Z-Rated rubber for maximum traction. If you want any kind of acceleration your gonna need 4.56 gears at least to get a really good launch. Still confused though....

Ok shut up you didn't beat a V6 Mustang and you definately didn't beat a V8 Dokota with a shitty 2.8 V6. I could kick your ass with my 4.3L so stop bullshitting.

I defintley have to agree with TexasF355F1 If you are going to throw away your money you would be better of lowering it you would have much better results

powdercoated pistons?
what are you talking about?
you may want to ask people who build turbo'd cars to answer your questions...
if you plan that, you'll need low compression pistons, forged crank and rods... etc...
why a 2.8?
the 4.3 from a newer truck in STOCK form bolted into your truck would kill alot of trucks...
and there's alot of southern style i'm seeing on that truck... lund racerback? moon visor? come on...
that stuff was in back in 89...
but hey... it's your taste.
you're planning on throwing a ton of money at something that will never run great, unless you spend thousands on tuning, b/c i've never heard of that motor being used for any performance application, so you're going to pay a lot to be a pioneer...
have fun...

This guys knows so much about mods why is he asking us "little" question like "how high of a flow injector should I be using?" Hell, after everything he bragged about in the post why would we know anymore than he does. I also second the idea that noone in their right mind wold spend that kind of money on a 2.8!

I agree.. I could see a 3.8 because of a flatter power band, but certainly not a 2.8 and certainly not twin turbo's... I wonder if this is the idiot from the civic forums that came in and said he was selling his truck and in one thread said it was a 2.8, and in another said it was a 350...hmmmmmm

Okay, I don't understand...you guys are cussing at each other and making fun of each other and being mean, and a moderator isn't saying a darned thing...but when I point out someone's spelling mistakes I get the omnipotent BlazerLT jumping down my throat threatening to kick me out of the forums on account of someone's grammar...what gives?!

Wow, you made almost no sense whatsoever...the fact of the matter is, I said nothing mean-spirited or derogatory, yet I was chastized the most.
P.S. Are you serious when you talk about earning respect via internet forums?

well her if that makes no sence let me lay it out a little more clear for you, i basicly said you were being a dick by pointing out, and finding humor, in how someone spelled something (and as you pointed out on an online forum) and two, the new guy doesnt get to come in and poke fun, you have to be knowen by the "regulars" before you can do that, remember back to high and middle school, you couldnt go to another "groups" table and sit down and start insaulting them.

Wow, I would point out the ridiculously easy words you mispelled, but I guess I just can't do that. Wait, maybe I'll start spending 7 hours a day on this internet forum in hopes that one day I'll become an AF Enthusiast...and then--only then--will I be able to finally poke fun at you!

If I'm not mistaken, an automotive forum's purpose is to offer help, get help, solve problems, give opinions, get opinions, etc, all relevant to VEHICLES! This is not grammar school. If this person who posted about the turbo is mature enough, he can take the criticism and not throw a fit. Only when somebody posts something so misspelled and impossible to read that it is difficult to understand the problem or take the advice, then that is the right time to say, "sorry, what did you try to write, I couldn't understand it?". Enough with the bantering borninski. You could have left the issue alone, but no.

I think you have been mistaken. You see, it was just my humble OPINION that words are spelled wrong; that is all.
Speaking of 'leaving the issue alone,' why did you take 5 minutes out of your day to simply re-state what everyone else already said?

I have nothing against you personally, I just have something against your constant badgering and shit disturbing over grammer.
If it can be read and understood, let it go.
There is no rule on these forums saying you have to use perfect english.
But there is a rule against people stirring up needless trouble for no reason.
What I said previously still stands. If you can contribute and learn from these forums, please do so.
If you are just going to comment on people's grammer skills, you will be leaving.
The ball is in your court.
