I have a 1999 2500HD silverado 6.0L.
It has factory installed fog lights they have always worked. Glue around one of the lenses failed and water entered the housing and blew the bulb. So instead of replacing I just took out the housings and zip tied the wires up.
A year later I got new lens housings and put them in with new bulbs. But now the fog lights wont turn on. I have replaced the cargo/fog light switch and I have checked the fuse and relay in the fuse center on drivers side under hood.
Is there a fuse somewhere else I am missing I cannot understand why these are not turning on now?

i just went through the manual, it does not mention a dedicated fuse, just says "outside lights".
and very likely, there's fusable link somewhere in the wiring, domestics just love those. look for almond shaped fattenings in the wiring, that's where they sit.
got a voltmeter? check if you even have power to those wires. clean contacts with electrical cleaner. it's all oxydized by now.

Well I removed the outer connector to get to the wires directly and used my volt meter to see if I get power nothing.
I noticed the chime doesn't come on anymore if the running or headlights are left on. I wonder if that's related to some fuse.
I replaced the fog light and cargo light switch but I wonder if I got a bad headlight switch it would effect the fog lights.

the fog lamps are controlled by the BCM ...the BCM sends a command to the fog lamp relay this then goes thru the fog lamp fuse 15a to the bulbs......most likely the bulb explosion when the water hit shorted out the feed ..damaging the relay or fuse.. use meter see if the relay has feed to coil remove relay plastic cover...
use a clear silicone sealant to completely fill the crack/seam on the lenses...this is common as the sealant used by GM is brittle and as the temps vary the lenses are not water proof.. with care this can be done with 100% no leaks...use alcohol to clean the plastic before using the sealant for a good bond.. good luck..
" make sure the black wires at the socket are connected to body ground... "

quote]
the BCM is the chime....if you desire this to work the BCM needs replacing....the BCM wiring is top secret....this is why as gm and the other auto giants fall I have no sympothy....
in addition to the replacing . it must be programed by the dealer...
this is all unneeded added cost to force you to buy a newer vehicle ..[designed to fail]

Well I am getting a body code from my computer b2585 not sure if thats related.
I found my bcm under the dash and on partsamerica.com they have a cardone bcm for like 116.00. I could replace it but I guess it needs to still be flashed when I do that?
