Hey guys i am going to attempt to install oem keyless entry on my 2004 alero with 70,000 miles on it. I wanted to know because of the car being 2004 do i need to just take it to a tech to get it programmed or is it simple wire in and just ground out a wire to re program some fobs?

Thanks
Rob

Did yor Alero come standard with remote keyless entry (RKE) or without? The keyfobs have to be programmed by a GM dealership service department.

To support RKE your car must have a body control module (BCM) that supports it and a remote receiver (RCDLR) module plus supporting wiring.

oh so thats what i would be missing is even if you have the rke brain you still need RCDLR. Thats interesting heck i should just concentrate on getting just a nice aftermarket one and do that.

No i dont have the au0. I thought it be plug and play once i had the pieces.
