yellow all,
Daughters friend just got a olds 97 cutlass with 65K miles. She said the car is fine except when she starts it up when its cold, the engine shakes. Once
the engine warms up and she starts it up there is no shake. What could be causing this? Just trying to help the girl out,(low funds. Can someone give me some direction? Thank you for your time!!!

I'd check for fuel in the fuel regulator hose for starters, many things can cause this as the symptoms are non specific.

Hi max,
By this you mean make sure there IS fuel in this hose when trying to start the car when its cold right? Any other easy checks I can make if this one doen't pan out? Thank you for your time!

If there is fuel in the vacuum hose to the regulator it means the regulator is bad, allowing fuel to be drawn into the intake which can cause hard starting and initial engine roughness. Without seeing what this "shaking" constitutes there is a lot of guess work from here. May try a bottle of Chevron Techron injector cleaner, give it a tankfull to work, get the 20 oz size.
