S-10 Water Damage?

Hi folks and thanks for letting me on your forum.
Last Sunday my S-10 was caught in some flooding. The water level was up to the bottom of the door panel and was running at the time until of coarse it stopped. We tried to start it again but didn't work. We were able to get a tow and let it set overnight. The next morning it took quite a few times to get it back running but it finally started and stayed running. All week it has ran fine until this morning I noticed it was idling higher than normal. It starts fine but lets say you are driving and come to a stop light and put the auto transmission in neutral it will rev up on it's own so far as high as 3000 rpm.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!
Dewayne

Welcome to AF.
What year and engine and mileage?
It might just be having a bad day.!!!
Try it after dinner or tomarrow.
Any check engine lights or stored codes?
Does the rpm raise in gear?
Has the TBI ever been cleaned?
Let us know how it goes.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
The engine is a 4.3L V6, 2003 S-10. The service engine light was on before this incident and I was told it had had a misfire on plug #6 at sometime. (that was from an autozone store).
It seems to do ok when you first start it now but after you have driven it and put it in park (or neutral) the rpms raise as if I were stepping on the throttle pedal.
I used that just answer service and said it may be that an electrical plug shorted or that the throttle sensor wasn't reading correctly.

Thanks!

Needs to be put on a engine capable scanner and see what is going on.
Read out all sensors and recheck for code?
Post back any new or what codes it has.
