Good Day to All:

I'm having trouble with my 96' 3.0L, its kind of crazy its intermittent and while driving the engines surges one or twice and then dies... when I try to crank it up again cranks but don't starts if I try again it wont even crank ( no starter winding up ) what I noticed is that is I'm driving when it dies my check engine light disapears for a while and if I connect my OBD 2 reader does not link up with the ECU if I wait a while and I crank it up again its satrts and the while cranking up I can hear a bang noise from the engine compartment drives side and then after a couple of minutes dies again...

I'm really shooting blanks with this one !!!

Any input would be very appreciated...

Thanks.

Head over to Autozone for a free code scan. That will tell you if your scanner or the van is the problem and maybe what is creating the stall.

Have you tried the bash the dash trick? Might have a solder joint issue in the instrument cluster.

Thanks for such quick reply...

Its funny because as soon the check engine light is online again my OBD reader work fine again its when it dies that the ECU & OBD scanner cycle is not available....... ?????
Thres this razy neighbor that sugested replacing the fuel filter and told me that that particular model has like an engine oil sensor that when it goes bad it cuts the ECU to avoid engine damage.... for me that sounds like the oil sensor the portable power generators have, but really for me dont make sense.
Thanks Again !!!

You guy's were right ! Bash the dash worked ! Soon as it hit it car started jerking & pulling, took the instrument cluster and re-soldered all contact and that did the trick ! Thaks AF !

Well hey, a late posted fix is better than no posted fix. Thanks for coming back.
