Alignment Question

I have a '97 GT with 115K on it. Someone cut me off the other day and I hit a curb at about 45 mph on the driverside. My steering wheel is now off center (roughly 2 o clock position) and my rear driver wheel looks out of whack as well. Before I go to the shop I'd like to check it out. Is there a way to reset the steering wheel and realign the rear wheel? Oddly enough, the car still drove strait and didnt pull or anything. The rear wheel doesn't wobble either.

If the rear wheel is off than there are bent parts that will need to be replaced before an alignment can be done. This may also be the case for the fronts. Once the new parts are installed an alignment will be done to ensure all the angles are correct.

probably a bent tracking arm on the rear, and hopefully for you sake just a bent lower controll arm up front.

Best thing to do is just climb under there and have a look.

This car is a safety hazard, so get it in the air or to a shop immediately to see what's bent/broken before something lets go completely and causes a crash.

Yeah... Alignment didnt shift, somthing broke(bent)..

How bad was the hit on the curb? Brushed up against it or hit it head on at any angle? Worse case it could be a damaged subframe member. Check the area where the control arm bolts up to the subframe on the front end. May not be news you want to hear but we had members that had this same issue. Also, the control arm was bent.

Hey Thanks for the reply, I really dont drive the car that much or at all since the situatation occured. I'll get underneath and see whats up. I just thought that there was a set screw of some sort to reset the steering. I assumed that something was bent on the rear. I can fix "almost" anything. Will let you know.

I hit it dead on. The tire and rim definately need to be replaced on the front. The rear center cap was knocked off as well. orry Bas#@%d.LOL

So the the curb was hit head on at 45 mph? Ouch!

Here is an old thread going back about three years for reference purposes. Damage as a result of hitting the curb was extensive but hopefully you are not in a similar situation. Good luck with it.
