I have a 1997 Transport with a 3.4L, oil light stays on a few minutes after ignition, then goes off when engine heats up. Very small spotty oil stains on the ground, oil level is full on dipstick, thanks.

Do you mean low oil level light (as opposed to pressure)? If the oil pressure (i'm assuming you have a gauge) reads normal, IOW, comes up right away to a normal level on start & stays in a normal range when at operating temps, good bet it's a prob related not to the oil, but the low oil level light setup.

Yes, it's the little picture of an oil can saying the engine is low on oil.

Might just be the sender at the oil pan, that's how my 96 3.4 is setup. I also have a strange prob with mine that I've read others have also but haven't seen a fix for it, .other than..

Mine basically is on all the time, but if I turn the ignition switch back once (from ignition setting) & then forward again to start, low oil level light then goes out the way its supposed to.

It does the same though.. even when I disconnected the wires to the sender at the oil pan.

Tried a google search & there are a ton of scenarios out there regarding low oil level lights that act up (not just GM) & fixes.

If I can't fix it, plan to just remove the low oil level light bulb.
