AU0 (zero) is the RPO (regular production option) for the remote keyless entry. Look in the trunk on the bottom side of the spare tire cover. There is a label with a list of 3 digit alpha/numeric codes. If AU0 is on the list then you have remote keyless entry.
The dealer is the only one who can reprogram the remotes if you buy new ones. They are not cheap.

Keyless entry is standard on all Aleros.

What model Alero is this? There are discrepancies as to whether all 2002 Alero models had remote keyless entry (RKE) as standard equipment. When you called the dealers did they do a check based on your VIN number which is the best way to tell and you can tell by looking at the service label on the BCM module since RKE must have a body control module capable of supporting it.
We have RKE in our 2002 and it is the GL2 model. All GL2 models had RKE as standard equipment.
