Question about Tamiya Clear

I've been using duplicolor auto paint on my models and have had very good success. However my local auto store has a limited range of colors so I turned to Tamiya Spray cans. Since I had several cans of Duplicolor primer, I've been using that, and base coating it with Tamiya. Even with wet sanding the primer to a smooth finish, the Tamiya seems to produce heavy orange peel. I've sanded between coats and that produced a pretty decent finish. The problem is, when I apply clear, the primer bleeds through the panel lines. I've stripped the paint and I'm back at the point of applying clear but am afraid of the consequences. Are these paints incompatible, even though they're both lacquers? Or do I just need to allow more time between the final base coat and clear coat? I typically wait 24 hours before clear coating. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you applying clear way too thick, and lots of it. Build up layers, starting with VERY thin coat and let it dry. Then spray couple more thin coats, let them dry, then spray one heavy coat.

i agreed too...
buildup your gloss thin layer by layer.
i usually do 3 dry coat (fine) & then 2 wet coats after 1 hour or so
so far i have no problem with tamiya spray cans.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I was spraying on my clears with an airbrush and had no problems. It was when I used the can spray that I had the bleed. I did notice that the Tamiya seemed to spray a little heavier than what I'm used to, so the heavy coats sound like they're the most likely culprit. Thanks again.
