seat adjuster

my driver side seat wont go forward for back but it does go up and down. the motor that makes it go back and forth is good but the piece connected to the motor is broken. ive been using the cable that was inside of it for a long time but it just now broke.

Did you ever find a way to fix this? Our 1999 Blazer had some kind of electrical problem and the seat no longer works. My husband is giving the car to my son who is much shorter than him and we are trying to figure out how to move the seat forward. Does anyone have any suggestions?
