88 crx dx coolant question

Alright i know this will sound odd but my upper rad hose is hot and the lower rad hose is cool this is not makeing any since should i by a new rad and that will fix the problem?

just try flushing the radiator out... might be something blocking it... is your engine overheating?

If you flush it, take it out completely, and leave the cap on, and try your best to seal a garden hose into the lower hole... leave the upper hole open, and turn the hose on... let the pressure build up in the core, and hopefull, it will blast out whatever is stuck in there... if anything.

If that doesn't work... use some drain-o... I'm not even kidding... plug the upper hole, fill the upper section of your radiator with water, and then put some drain-o in there... within a few minutes, the water should pour out the bottom of the radiator.

This, of course, assumes that there is a blockage in your radiator.

If the car isnt overheating then this is normal. The thermostat wont open until it needs to, and the lower hose will stay cooler than the upper. IF your sure its not overheating, try pushing the car for a minute or two and then try it again. If the thermostat is working they will both be quite hot.
