New Fuel Pump Time

Okay. Looks like my fuel pump is the culprit. I actually am an Autozone manager and we sell the Airtex for my Blazer for $240.00. Is it completely necessary to change the entire assembly or can I disassemble it and change just the pump itself? I found the pump online at Rock Auto for $73.00. If possible to disassemble it and swap it out then it's a no-brainer. I know which way I will go.

Yes no problem, easy tasks to do ,Just be careful not to brake of the taps that clip and hold the pump case together :cool:

What year and engine and mileage on it?
What is the come back rate there on the Airtex pumps?
If you are the manger there pitch them airtex fuel pumps in the trash can and get in some more of the AC delco /delphi OEM type fuel pumps.

Depending on the year on all newer models it is best to replace the complete fuel pump module and the wiring plug in updates.
And only use ac delco/delphi pumps.

You are very luckie.

Carquest has dropped Airtex like a hot spud because of many comebacks.
Other parts places and repair shops are having a lot of problems with Airtex fuel pumps.
Read some of the fuel pump post on here and you will see the same thing.

The only good fuel pump is the AC-delco/delphi pump.

Thx. Sounds like the only way to go and feel good about it.

Replaced fuel pump and now the gauge is pegged past full. Rechecked all the wiring and all is good. Isn't there a ground on these things? WHere is it located?

The ground is on Rear of right cylinder head.
Was the gauge working ruight before fuel pump replacement?

Unplug tank plug in and see if fuel gauge moves.
Take a old bulb type test light and ground the clip on wire on it touch the purple wire with the tip of test light on plugin purple wire with it unpluged key on.
Light should light up dime and gas gauge should move when you touch test light to wire.
Does it do them things?

Did you install the ac delco/delphi fuel pump module or someeting else?
