How hard is it to replace the rod bearings on a 2000 grand am with the 2.4 engine? Can it be done from the bottom side by pulling oil pan?

Welcome to AF.
Yes you should be able to replace the rod bearings from the bottom.
Though if the rod is damaged, you can Not replace that without disassembling the engine completely.

Buying a manual would be a smart step! :grinyes:
You just remove the oil pan, turn the engine over by hand till you get the rods around to remove the bearing caps on the rods. Not easy but can be done.
Good Luck
