Auto Zone and Advanced Auto will scan the engine for codes free. The T-P sensor sometimes goes bad but normally the idle speed goes up and down on its own.
Post any codes you get so we can look at them.

Check if the throttle shaft in the throttle body moves freely. It could be sticky.Pull the cover off and move the throttle by hand without the engine running.

i belive it's your tps thats gone bad because it has about 3 steps when you start it up and it will kick down a notch then another notch until it idles like it sould. but my money is on tps or module.

Might check for a leaky intake gasket. Spray some carb cleaner around intake while running and listen for a change in rpm's.

I would take a 12 volt test light and monitor the small wire going to the solenoid. If it stays on after starting I would check the ignition switch and relay if it has one.
The bendix may also be hanging up but check for voltage first.
