My GM G bodied vehicles always had this issue from the '70s through the '80s. Did you check the fuse? If the fuse keeps blowing you might want to check for a short in the wiring . That was the case many times and once repaired would work again, or you could always add an auxiliary cigarette lighter,( I guess the proper term for these now is power ports?) in another location. I know they sold them at auto parts stores under the HELP! brand .

Common for coins or metallic wrappers to fall in the lite socket also.

then if i see it keeps blowing Ill dig into the wiring. but hopefully its just a fuse.

:iagree: I've had that happen a few times. Usually it's the foil gum wrappers from the stick type gum :shakehead:That was one drawback to these lighters, any form of metal, whether it be a coin, or piece of thin foil, would cause a short and the fuse to blow. Newer vehicles that utilize the old cigarette lighter as a power port have a plastic cover that fits over the top to keep stuff like that out. Obviously, one of the GM engineers got tired of replacing his fuse to put a cover over these units
