Can I use high-heat engine paint on the exhaust system?

Here is a look at what I think is a 'resonator'. part of the exhaust system that decreases the noise level(?):

Anyway, although the pipes are rusty here, there could be much life left in this system if I could paint it with rustpaint. But because of the heat, I was thinking Engine paint.

Is the exhaust (post cat converter) too hot even for engine paint?

could be ok, only one way to find out... whats the worst that will happen.. it'll flake off in the areas too hot? then it will rust and youll need to replace it as if you didnt paint it all.... if you get the good engine paint wth a high temp rating you should be good post cat... only thing i would watch is the car itself gets VERY hot, so the flange may not hold paint
