Yo Guys,
Probably a lot of you guys must have been thinking: This freaking huudo is he getting nuts or what? Is he on glue? Did he became insane? Did he :bloated: ??
Well nothing of that sort! :smoker2: I was just curious to see what happened if I hit the "last" button on the page counter. I arrived at page 229 or something and I started going through all the threads. Like I said earlier, that must have been the time when you could post something with knowing that only 2 or 3 guys were going to answer. There is a lot of hidden info in there and a lot of cool reports - both building and finished ones. I thought that while browsing through all these pages, why not bring them up again and show them to all the Newbies who've never seen those beauties before. So not everyone has to start digging.
So the question is, do you want me to continue like that, say till I've reached Sept/Oct 2002, or do you say no way, we've seen them all before, or maybe you don't care at all in which case I will continue :D Just vote and let me know
I got worried, while people where starting getting worried about me... :p

I think it's fine as some Newbie's can benefit without having to start new threads on the same topic.

I have to say i don't really see the point! All these threads are there for people to see if they go looking, no need to dig they up again I feel. Just my 2p;)

I think a better way would be to post a *link* to the older thread, rather than digging it up and posting in the thread itself.
Huudo I like looking at those older threads too, as they are top notch models, but to post in them puts them at the top of the forum and mucks up the page a little.
I had a hard time distinguishing between "new" and "old" threads, particularly when the "old" ones are over 6 months in age.
The other day was frustrating, as I found myself clicking on threads that I have already seen as long as 1 year ago!!

I have to say I am with Chris on this one Guido, those threads are still there for everyone to see if they want.
I have been through most of those last pages myself, and seen some great models there, nothing stops anyone else doing the same as you or I Guido ;)
Oh, and I'll leave it at 2p too, since it is worth more than 2c then:D

would it matter if the thread is old or not seeing as someone still needs help with that subject that they are looking for......if the info in the thread didn't help then they can just add to it and still get help.......now if it's something stupid and irrelevent.....then no...ie; do u like my car

Yep, I fully agree with that :)

I've been a bit guilty of digging up old threads myself at times. Since I'm relitively new here I think it is a cool idea. Can understand how those who have been around a bit longer would see it as an annoyance.
Huudo has unearthed some gems in the past few days, like Nuno's 787, not only a tight build but the thread included some very handy reference shots. I guess anybody looking for 787 threads would have done so using the search function, but it is nice to be reminded about the resources lurking in the AF vault. I imagine it is also a buzz for the builder to have his old work back in the spotlight again!

I like the idea of linking to the page. Huudo, you could make a thread called "Threads of note" or "Awesome threads" or something of the sort, and maybe a mod would be nice enough to Sticky it to the top of the page. Then you could just post links. That being said, if anybody has anything of significance to say concerning an old thread (and often they do) it will be bumped anyway, but that's fine by me as new content is always welcome.

some are nice to see again.. but some didn't...
Like this week, 3 of my first model was "Diggind up" and I was kinda shame about the quality of those kit.. it was great for my first model, but nothing to do with what I made right now
so Yes for some that worth it !

If you do it just for the fun of it that it is not ok, otherwise, why not.

I think that if there is still something to be said in a discussion, then there is no reason not to post in that thread.
I think that posting in threads just to get them to the top of the list is a bit cumbersone and confusing in our forum format because, invariably, someone misses the dates and thinks it's a new thread. I appreciate the idea of TTT-ing threads to show off the model car within, but that's what the Gallery is for... A permanent display of the completed projects

True..but there are a lot of excellent models not in the gallery, cuz their creators haven't sent them in (I know I'm guilty in that regard too)

Most of them will get turned over pretty quickly back into the deepths of AF again... !!!
I think if people want to know something about the thread and post in it to ask a good question etc etc then its fine by me....digging them up just to say Well done...looks good etc etc is abit of a time waste for a thread thats a few years old.
It does get messy when you start looking through the first page and there's really old threads in them.
Myself that's been here since the first posts in the model forum was made makes me wonder why....but there is alot of good info and lots and lots of info/pics that newbies have not seen.
Ive just been checking the little reply box...if it has a black dot in it i know i've already posted and its probably not worth going back in to it for a look

The majority said yes, so ... :finger:
j/k
But the no's had some good arguments. Since my goal was just to show all the nice models to the Newies and not asking questions, the main 'no' feedback was that it's a waist of time, confusing people etc. So I won't continue with digging them up. The only thing I can say to all is go to the last page and browse forward. There's a lot of valuable information there.
Making links? I don't like to click too much myself, so I won't start doing that.
Suggestion:
What about everyone who likes to have one is his own thread where he posts 1 pic per model he has, like P-Man's Model Collection (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59626) . The builder can add that then to his sig and people can have an quick overview of all his models. Per pic he can add a link to his gallery in the Car Model Gallery then for further explanation and more pics. Or is this a P-Man's privilige? I'd like to do it for my own collection. Just an idea ;)

Would it be better if there was an archive section in this Forum? Newbies can then refer to that without having to bring up old threads.
