So I've happened upon a '95 Sentra GXE with the 1.8...long story short, it's a replacement 'till I get my '97 Neon running, and I feel like I'm driving a marshmallow...time for some upgrades.

Getting more power won't be a problem...I only want to push it to about 140-150hp, with (hopefully) a similar gain in torque...no problem. My issue is with the handling. I'm not really sure where to start with it...wider tires, probably, but past that I son't know what makes it so spongy...is that normal?

tl:dr I need it to handle better, where do I start?

#1 its a 1.6 liter. sentras didnt have 1.8 until 2000
#2 stock rims are probably 14x6 or 14x5.5 thats small. get some 15x7 rims and decent tires
#3 springs, shocks, sway bars. unless its been in an accident or driven only on dirt roads, the body should be pretty solid. front and rear strut bars might help a little too though. if you have access to a lift/press, you could replace all the bushings also but i dont know how deep you want to get with this.

1.6...seems like I should have remembered that. Whups. Fairly nice power curve for a 1.6 though.

Bigger wheels...maybe some larger stockers from another Nissan? (I'm on a college student's budget)

Coilovers and a sway bar won't be hard to get. I might go for some strut bars for the heck of it...pretty cheap around here. Bushing's are a little much though...I don't have a lot of free time. :frown:

Thanks man.

indeed. then might i suggest getting some springs and sports dampers (like KYB or tokico or koni).
your car has a 4x100 bolt pattern on the wheels so it will fit any honda wheel as well as some other nissan wheels. if you can find em, the sentra SE from like 97-99 had 15" 5 spoke wheels that you can throw 205/55/15s on.
