Serpentine Belt Info Needed

2002 GX 3.5L DOHC

The pulley for my AC compressor is gone bad, and I'm having trouble finding the info I need to make the decision on how to fix it inexpensively and efficiently.

I cannot find any diagram for the serpentine belt routing. If anyone can point me towards a link for this info, or give me a pic of theirs or something...That would be a help.

Also, does anyone know if any 02's came without AC. This way, I can simply buy a shorter belt to bypass the AC compressor pulley.

Also...some pulleys on AC compressors cannot be replaced and some others can. Does the 02 Intrigue have a compressor that has a replacable pulley or does the whole compressor need to be replaced?

I don't think there is a diagram on the car. I just changed the belt this morning. When you get a new belt at the parts store the package has the diagram. If you cant find a diagram on the internet I would go to the parts store and copy it or replace the belt anyway while its off.

That's some good advice right there.
I have solution and here's what I found out...

The Intrigue does not have a changable pulley on the AC compressor. There are "bypass pulleys" sold online that take the place of the AC compressor, and allow usage of the stock serpentine belt, however, I have only found them for the 98-99 3.8L.

All models of the Intrigue come with AC, so there are no aftermarket belts or replacement OEM belts designed for the system without AC. I have tried measuring the belt and bypassing the AC pulley. I tried the shorter belt but failed. There is a ridge just left of the crankshaft pulley, on the front of the engine, that rubs the belt. That belt would have burned up in a hurry. No re-routing will be successful either.

The solution here is a bearing replacement. NAPA has a part number cross-referenced with GM that provides a replacement bearing for the AC Compressor pulley. It's inexpensive and avoids the compressor needing to be replaced, and also the cost of having the whole system recharged and setup.
