Hi Everyone,
I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier and recently it started making a knocking noise. I have noticed it when parking and turning. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Thanks for your help!
Nina

Need more info. In what vicinity is the noise coming from?

If you think its coming from the suspension there are a couple of known issues with these style front ends.
One is the rear bushings on the front control arms. The rubber separates from the metal sleeves that are pressed into the control arm. If this is the case and they are bad enough the lower control arm will be sitting on the subframe and you will see the rubber bushing sitting right above it.
They other is stabilizer links which typically break.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this! Mine is a 2.2 liter . . . the knocking noise seems to be coming from the passenger side.
It happened today when I was going straight at about 30 miles per hour.
Thanks,
Nina

Does it increase or decrease with speed? Is it coming from the front or back? Does it sound like it is coming from the engine?
