Hey I wanna paint the valve cover on my car, how do I do it? just pull it off and start painting or what

basically u will take it off, sand it, the prim it with high temp primer and then paint it with high temp paint. that should be it

yep, thas all I did with mine, only it was after the fast that i reralised I had painted it "Ford blue"

how do you know when to stop sanding. I want o get an elctric sander but dont know which one to get. Also can you sand too much. How is k-mart paint?

you can tell you've sanded too much when you go through the paint. Besides you don't have to sand off all the paint unless you want it to be smooth. You have to use self etching primer, to make it stick good to aluminum or a high temp primer will work. If you want to go with the stock wrinkle look they make wrinkle paint so you can paint it red like a type R valve cover. You can buy high temp paint at any Parts store like Autozone or any place like that. Unless you want a smooth paint job you don't have to sand the crap out of it either actually the stock paint sticks better than anything you'll paint it with so its better to paint over it. try using aircraft stripper the paint will come off in like 5 min. Wear gloves though it is some bad stuff. wash well after and prime and paint
