First timer here, so please bear with me. I read a couple other posts related to this issue, one referring to FTC code 42 on a 03 Tarus. When I looked up the same number for a 95 Tarus, it said "DTC 42: center radiator primary crash sensor feed/return open". I read Dugan59's reply to the 03 Tarus code 42, and wondered it fixing mine could be as simple as just removing the crash sensor, cleaning/sanding it and replacing it with new screws. I know I have to first disarm it by disconnecting the -battery termanal. This 4/2 flash of the air bag light just started, and there has been no recent work on the car.
Thanks for any input.

I think it sounds like a good start! Just be sure to follow the manufacturer's recomended procedure to disarm the system.

I have a phantom 'check air bag light' too, but that comes on when I move the electric seat around. Dealer could not find it so I move the seat and that short or connector reconnects itself. Trouble display gone!
So, if you did not move a seat or say there is corrosive salt or whatever weather condition, I would do that freebee you mentioned (at the front of the car) is you could find it, fix it; is just a connector dropped-out and now clean the terminals or squeeze that one wire (so to make contact); where that throws the short to code is just one wire making your day... Well, your day is not going well. I'm still having days like that is move my seat.
