LS unlocks doors and opens roof on its own

Believe it or not, my 2000 LS has gotten a mind of its own. When I lock the car, and leave, it randomly unlocks (which then puts the windows down and opens the moon roof...what a feature). I am guessing it is a receiver issue with the keyless entry. I have no idea where to start. My first priority is to disable the keyless so my car stays locked. Anyone know an easy way to do that? I can't find a fuse for it listed anywhere.

This forum is great. Seems to be a lot of knowledgable folks on here. Thanks in advance for the help!

1) I would start with new batteries for Remote Bob,because of age.
2) Disconnect the battery in your car and let it set for a few min.

How old is the battery in your car?

My battery is about 3 years old in the car. The remote is only 2 years old, but I will certainly try that too. I did take the remote apart to see if it was possibly malfunctioning and the doors/windows still unlocked.

I tried diconnecting the battery last night with no luck.

I am curious if there is moisture in the keyless computer or something. I just have no idea how they work...We've had a lot of humid days with Hanna making her way through town...

I appreciate the reply!

3) If you take the drivers door apart, you can visual check the control module
for water damage.
4) Disconnect control module, and visual inspect connector.
5) Plug it back

I'd suspect water damage over anything. I had a f150 that had all kinds of wild things such as you could roll up and down the passenger window with the key off but the driver's window wouldn't work at all as well as the locks. Also the battery would go dead overnight and if you disconnected the battery then reattached it, the windows would roll down by themselves. Ended up being considation dripping on the RAP module which is built inside the fusepanel. Replaced that and all was fine.

Thanks again for the advice McGiver and Ponchonutty. I pulled each plug individually from the control box in the driver's side door and got one of them to stop the unlock/window actuation. Poncho...what is a RAP module?

McGiver, thanks to you, I go it to stop inviting theives to my car by disabling it! I have to go out of town in the morning and it would be unwise to have the windows and sunroof open for 3 days! You're the best!

The only other thing I can think of is there is moisture in the trunk as I went to the Richmond Race Sunday and forgot to plug the cooler before I left. It is just damp back there, but if this "RAP Module" is back there it may have condensation on it. I'll be back at it on Friday to iron this out.

Man, you guys are great. Thanks again for all the help. Couldn't have gotten this far without your help!

Have a good rest of the week. More this weekend. I'll be sure to post the results for others.

Welcome to the forum!

Per forum guidelines, I've changed the thread title to something descriptive.

As for the issue you're experiencing with your LS, you could also have a an issue with the switch connected to the mechanical door lock cylinder in the driver's door. This is the switch that will roll the windows down and open the sunroof when using the key in the mechanical lock. I'm not sure if it would also unlock the door though.... You could try reconnecting the Remote Antitheft Personality (RAP) module/Driver's Door Module (whichever you disconnected) then use the key and mechanical switch to roll up the windows, close the roof, and lock the doors then see if the problem occurs again. Maybe the linkage is out of adjustment and closing the "unlock" switch.

I believe a fuse panel, the battery, and a rear electronics module are all that's in the trunk (plus maybe an audio amplifier depending on the year and sound system in your car), not the RAP module.

Thanks for the help on the forum too...it's hard being a newbie!
