can someone help me with a paint issue? I haven't been getting any luck with this so I figure I ask the people I know and trust on the forum. I have a section of paint that has been getting progressively worse as time has come and gone and I'm not sure what to do. Can I fix this myself or do I have to shell out big $$$ for it to be done for me? If I cannot fix it right away, can someone recommend a stopgap to stop further damage?

thats just a close up of one of the worst spots. the rest is a bright, glossy cherry red. it is factory paint. the surface feels like cardboard-ish or maybe really fine sandpaper. it almost looks like someone took sandpaper to it, but didnt. is it just the clearcoat? is the color paint still down there somewhere? I'm kinda tired of doing nothing about this so I hope someone can help me.

Thanks in advance

Looks like you need a paint job. You can try and get it to shine with coarse buffing and then a finish polish. If this don't take out the oxidation repainting will fix it.
