Why would someone steal a vehicle owner's manual?

Recently a roommate and myself had our vehicle owner's manual stolen and nothing else after our cars were entered without forced entry. The people left the passenger side door slightly ajar after also in both cases. A friend says the manual might provide info specific to the car to aid in sabotage. What do you think?

An owner's manual doesn't provide any technical-specific info about the car...they all read pretty much the same...except for what kind of fuses, bulbs, fluids, etc...

I was going to say if it had the VIN written, they could have a dealer cut a code key...but they could have gotten the VIN right off the dash without breaking in too...so that wasn't the intent....

Maybe they have one too, and they just wanna know how to get rid of that damn "Change Oil Soon" light...

If you're lucky enough, you can find factory service manuals on eBay for under $30, which has more than enough info for you to work on your vehicle.
