I recently purchased a used 99 f150 with the towing package factory installed I bought an electric brake controller this weekend and installed it with a pig tail I got from the local trailer shop. I have tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals coming out fine in my 7 pin trailer plug but no power for the electric brakes. I have searched the internet and found that there could be a relay or two I am missing. Is this the problem and if it is where exactly is the relays located since my truck did not come with an owners manual to see where it is (no idea what fuses do what). Any help I could get would be awesome. Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with your vehicle so can't offer any specific help but you can download the owner's manual in PDF format from this Ford site (https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp). I had a quick glance at it and I see there is a fuse specifically for the 'Trailer Tow Electric Brake' - that's listed as fuse 108 (30A, located in the Power Distribution Box).
There may be other fuses and relays of relevance, but hopefully somebody else will come along who is familiar with the trailer wiring.

I assume you purchased a Ford pigtail and installed it in the plug near the brake pedal. They have to be wired correctly did you match the color codes correctly I think this is where your problem is located. Do the lights come on in your unit when you push on the brakes. You may have gotten a defective unit. Do a google search champion trailers have wiring diagrams.
