Charging Issue

Here is hoping someone has been through this and knows where to look. I have a new battery, cables, and alternator. Now for the problem. When the car sets over night I am loosing voltage in the battery. When I shut it off it will have 12.67 volts and by morning 10.02 volts. The alternator is putting out just a little over 14 volts and will maintain the reading when or with everything on, lights heater fan, radio etc. With an amp meter on the battery it shows that something is drawing current when the key is off and everything is shut down. I went so far as to pull each fuse one at a time to see if something was open but all is well. Last night I even pulled all the fuses and by morning it had still lost. What else can I look for that is on, and how do I look for it?? The car won't start with only 10.2 volts but this morning there was just 11 volts. It started and ran for about 1 min. and brought it right back to 12.67 volts. I'm lost. :runaround: Jess

you never got alt. at autozone did you? if alt. is really charging the you have a open link some where.but had pa i never knew what was blowing fuses and on the right front under dash there were sensors i pulled the wires off one by one then pluged back up well i got to the last one and it was the one so left it unplugged come to find out it was the one that run the dinger. then no more problems just left it unhooked after quit dinging you could hear a slite ding if you listen real close. main thing it quit blowing fuses.

yes really i agree after posting we need the year,moter size huh guys i shouln't replied with out that but to me all the sensors make them run.got to have spark and gas to make them all run.

Unplug the alternator, disconnect the positive cable to the alt. and recheck.

Give me a break. i said i should'nt have but it's the same sensors that make your car run. if your notgetting any spark then it won't run. no spark no gas no run.

I'm getting spark and I'm getting gas and the car runs just fine. My problem is I am droping battery voltage when the car is shut off and parked for the night. Something is still on when the key is turned off and it drain's the voltage down. It's got nothing to do with spark and gas.

Jes, does the ELC Pump under the hood come on from time to time when the car is off?
You can unplug the ELC fuse, or the ELC Pump Connector and see if that solves the Problem.. When the rear air struts go bad they can leak and in the case of the 88-91 Bonnevilles with the Load Leveling system this can run the battery down overnight...
I have also had this happen with a Sorry parts store Alt...

I pulled the fuse but that shut down all my interior lights. Is there a fuse or wire some where I can pull to check the Leveling system. Even with the mirror fuse pulled my amp meter still shows something is open. I pulled the hood, trunk, and glove box lights out but that isn't it either.

A Hum... You can unplug the Mirror if you remove the plastic trim piece if I remember right..
For some reason I am thinking possible Lock switch issue possibly on the same side as the mirror... Either way you are getting closer..
