a/c and blinkers won't turn on/work

The voltage meter in the dash was going hard left (to the negative) when car starts. Car runs fine. AC and blinkers won't work though, and voltage meter stays hard left. Changed the battery (it's been in the car for 4 years, a long time for the desert heat). Everthing is the same after the batter change. Is it an alternator issue? thanks to all that reply.

Advance Auto and Auto Zone will check the charging system for free. Otherwise use your DVOM and check the voltage when running. It should be around 14 to 14.3 volt.
