Fuel filter replacement?

Picked up the Chilton manual for Cirrus, Stratus, Breeze, Sebring at the library.

I looked up spark plug change on a V6. All it basically said was remove wires, remove plugs, and then reverse procedure! They said nothing about access to the three rear plugs, removing intake manifold, etc. The platinum plugs are supposed to be good for 100,000 miles. I've only got 26,000 on a '95 I bought from my mother-in-law, the original owner, so the plug and drive belt change is many years off.

But it made me suspicious of Chilton's authoritativeness.

I'm interested in changing the fuel filter. Dealer wants $140. I do this on a lot of my vehicles but the Mopar unit appears to be almost buried between fuel tank and body, where you have to work blind.

Anybody recommend another step by step source, or is it easier than it looks?

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the fuel-filter placement either. I had plans on replacing it myself, but the fuel-pump failed before I got around to it. I bought a pump, and then realized the wife had just topped off the tank and I had no where to go with 16 gallons of gas. So I took the pump & filter to a garage who installed everything for $125. Had the car towed of course.

If you do the repair, let me know how it goes. It's been a while since I read the Haynes manual, but I remember having to loosen one of the tank straps and tilting the tank to access the filter. Sounds easy if the car is on a lift. Probably not so easy laying on your back.

it sounds and looks worse than it really is. still it is no walk in the park should only take about 15 minutes to do. MAKE sure the fuel lines snap in or the will leak.
