Ok, I have a 2005 two wheel drive four door Durango with a 5.7 fuel injected i brought it in 2006 with only 52 miles on it test driven miles. Anyway two month's ago i noticed that the temp would get above the halfway mark. so i changed the coolant, checked the fan cluch & watched the electric fan come on and off though cycles. I know if you run the a/c and you are at a idle the temp will go up to the halfway mark then the electric fan come's on cool's down to temp goes off then on again in cycles. But while this is going on the temp still won't go down even after you start driving, today it took about two miles before it got below the halfway mark. So today i changed the motor oil (it hadn't been changed sent's Oct. of last year). But i didn't drive it much after that. The dealership could only tell me that it would be $90.00 to look at it. I don't think they can do anything because the check engine light isn't coming on anyway. So what do Yall think where should i start.:runaround: :runaround:

If the fans are cycling on and off with the A/C off than its probably not overheating. The first [thing I would do is monitor coolant temp with a scan tool to see what temp it is actually at. It is very possible that it is the guage.

The other possibility is that the radiator has a bunch of debrix built up on the outside of it between the A/c condensor and the radiator.

The radiator is clean and i checked it to see if it was pulling air in from the front by putting my hand in front of it. you could feel the air being pulled.

You would be surprised how much debris can be trapped in them!
