Hard shifting

My '02 6-banger has always shifted hard (bought it used). It's reliable, the transmission fluid is clean... but is this an indication of a problem, or do the transmissions on these things just tend to be that way?

My mustang has the same problem(I have a '96, 5-speed), my mechanic says its the clutch, hope this helps

No, no... I JOINED three years ago. The post was recent.
Unfortunately, my 'stang is an automatic, so not likely the clutch! :)
