97 Lumina stalls at stops

Hey, I just started driving my car frequently and it seems to have a problem with stalling. Sometimes when I stop at a stop light/sign, the engine will stall and I'll have to restart it. So far it has always started back up. The only thing I can think of is that the gas gauge doesn't seem to go under a 1/4 tank and that I probably don't have much gas. I haven't tried filling up because I don't have any money, and I thought you guys would have a better idea.

Thanks

Low fuel shouldn't cause a stall, if it did usually restarting would be a problem. Try cleaning the throttle body and remove and clean the idle air control.

mine 96' lumina 3.1 was stalling at a certain point with the gas gauge at about 1/4 a tank, and i had about 5 people tell me that it was the fuel pump. i had bought a new one and replaced it and it runs good. do you hear like a wining sound when you key is turned on? my fuel pump was weak and you could hear a wining noise with the ignition key turned on.
