i painted a porsche cayenne last week-end and i was wondering how time time do you guys wait before polishing?

i used duplicolor paint and clear.

most of the time, i wait 3 weeks. is it too much?

btw this one is a diecast, not plastic but the question is for both of them

It depends on the paints you use.I haven't any experience with Duplicolor paints but I usually wait a week with the stuff I use, but I have polished the 2K paints after just 48 hrs drying, even less if I place the parts in my drying booth straight after painting and bake them.

Hi, different paint have different gas-out times. your environment also plays an important part.

i used to use tamiya spray cans which i took about 3 solid sunny days to left the gass-out after the wet gloss coat. bear in mind the average temperature here is @ 27 - 33* celcius & humidity is @70-95%, my gas-out time is much faster than most of the other countries.

the paint's pigment carrier ie, arcylic, enamel or lacquer also plays a part in the drying times, apart from environmental factors. i suggest you experiment it yourself to find the correct mix & stick with it.

ALWAYS PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE AEROSOL FUMES!!!

cheers!

well, right now it still feel ''soft'' when i put my nail on it

i don't want to ruin the paint job since i can't see any defect in it
