I was driving my 2003 S10, and shut it off to go to class. When I went to start it up to go home, it wouldn't start. I had a friend jump me, and it started right up, and idled just fine. I took off and all of the dash lights began flashing, my radio went off, and the guages started jumping around. When I let off the gas to shift into 2nd (manual trans.) the truck (http://autoforums.carjunky.com/Automotive_Repair_C1/Electrical_and_Wiring_F6/gforum.cgi?post=33994;t=search_engine#) died. I had this problem over and over.

This happened also back in January and I took my alternator to Auto (http://autoforums.carjunky.com/Automotive_Repair_C1/Electrical_and_Wiring_F6/gforum.cgi?post=33994;t=search_engine#) Zone and it tested bad, so I got a new one and it started right up. I had a couple problems off and on after that, but I hadn't had any for a couple months and now it is messing up again. The alternator was a pain to get off, so I thought I would see if there could be any other causes before I went to check that again. Any suggestions??

Thanks!!!!

have you pulled any engine codes? If so what are they? Is there much corrosion around the battery terminals? Your truck is only a few years old, but check the battery cables over good, making sure that they make a good connection at the battery and where they terminate. How old is the battery? Have it tested too, just to make sure it is capable.

I got it all figured out. I had a bad connection to the battery. I forgot all about checking that from the beginning because I was just afraid it was the alternator, like last time when it tested bad. After I tightened the cables it started right up, went to Wal-Mart and had them test the battery, starter, and alternator and they all tested good!! YAY!!

THANKS!!!!!!
