Oh, squeaky shocks

This is SO embarrassing, but since I know when the shocks became "squeaky" I must admit it.

Lets just say, me and this girl fell in love..

BUT!! My front left shock is very squeaky now, and it won't quit, I even tried WD-40'ing it by advice from co-workers. No go, still the same loud squeak. When leaving or arriving at work and my windows are down, every little bump it can be heard, and people say "Oh, here he comes!"..

Damnit..

So, any fix? Or will I need new shocks? And can "it" really have caused it? Or just coincidence?

Taking advantage of that huge back seat capacity, eh? Great use for it! You got the right car!

Anyways, I don't know if I've ever heard a shock squeak. I have heard control arm bushings squeak, however - it makes more of a baritone groaning sort of squeak. You might try the WD-40 on the control arm bushings - but don't over do it!

I had this problem both front springs squeeked and you could hear my vehicle coming from afar....wd-40 and these other water lubes will not work I tried ...the only thing that worked was this spray on grease I forgot the name but it smelled very bad...by installing a spray tube and some extentions I directed the grease to the upper top most part of the spring and after doing this it lessened so I repeated this 2-3x the problem never returned and that vehicle I had put over 100,000mi after this squeek problem...

Oh yes, especially with "Summers almost gone" playing on the radio, from the Doors..

Control arm bushing? I've never heard of this part, but I'll check the hayes manual and give it a try.

Try checking your exhaust lines also, maybe you have some loose pipes scraping somewhere. I had a noise everytime I hit a bump that sounded like suspension, but turned out my muffler was just about to fall off.

I'm 99% sure this is from the front left suspension. I can press down on that side and here it from right behind the tire.

With me, it sounded like that too, but my whole exhaust line was just held up from the manifold flange, and the squeek was coming from there. I wouldn't rule it out. It was driving me crazy, it even made noise when I pushed down on the front of the car.

I doubt that the problem is your shock(s). A lower control arm bushing can make the most hideous noise. I had a bad set on a '68 Impala and it could be heard down the block.

I sprayed WD40, brake fluid, any trick I could think of and nothing worked until I took it apart and had new bushings pressed in.
