1996 Continental

Hi,
My son just purchased a 96 Continental with the 32 Valve engine. For 500.00 it was a good deal. Needs a few minor things.

The engine states it needs "Premium Fuel" only but he put in regular fuel. After he put in the regular gas, and drove it for a while, the 'Check engine light', came on. Could the regular fuel cause the light to come on?

Could regular fuel damage parts in the engine? ie(Sensors, etc.)

Thanks,

Steve

Buy some octane boost from local parts store + put in tank.
It could damage a catalytic in time.
