What all does the BCM control in a 2001 Grand Caravan?

rear wiper pulse?
Alarm - engine cut circuit?

Having some issues. Rear wiper motor doesn't stop where it should.
And on some days when its damp out the circuity light comes on and the engine will start for 3 seconds and then stop. It will do this until 4 or 5 times, then the starter is cut. If I wait for some time like 10 to 60 minutes, it acts like there is nothing wrong and starts and runs.

It does this about 3 or 4 times a year.

The BCM (Body Control Module) controls just about everything NOT engine related other than the alarm(Sentry Key). But, in your case I would suspect the cancel cam or sensor in the rear wiper is the issue. Not sure if it is servicable or not. Might be ahead to get to a boneyard and get another assembly.

No start condition, ny guess the decoder in the ignition is at fault. Really, both of your problems can be diagnosed with a proper computer scanner like what the dealer or higher end ASE cert. mechanic.

Well I did have it scanned and all I got from my dodge dealer was a shrug and a bring it back when it happens again.

So for the wiper, I installed a new motor {factory new} no luck, same problem.

Tough to troubleshoot very intermittent problems like yours. Even if you try a few things and it starts working, it will take time to make sure your efforts helped. That said, try these:

Next time it dies and won't start, smack the top of the dash above the instrument panel. Poor solder joints on the instrument cluster circuit board have become a common problem. Vibrating the solder joints can make them complete the circuit again. WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT? All the modules/computers talk to each other over the CCD Multiplex Data Bus. The cluster is an integral user of the bus. Depending on the fail mode, if the data bus opens anywhere, you may not be able to start the van. The cluster has turned out to be the main culprit in that event. If you smack the dash and it comes to life, this may be the case. Usually this is associated with erratic instruments but, not in every case and I don't recall a post relating it to the security system but, considering the data bus is an integral part of the electronics in these vans, I wouldn't be suprised if the secuity system is on the data bus and may be effecting the bus and may be the fail mode that is creating everyone's no start issues, at least when equipped with a security system.

The IOD fuse in the fuse box next to the battery powers the BCM. Remove it for a few minutes to reset it. As previously stated, it controls most of the electronics in the van. You've eliminated the park switch in the wiper motor. It sounds like the motor is just loosing power either from a very intermittent open in a wire or connection or from the BCM.

RIP is spot on. Dealer of all makes and models are plagued with electrical issues such as this. Sometimes they even consult an outside vendor such as my shop to look at certain problems they can't seem to track down. Are these a PITA, yes. Can they be fixed, yes. Just sometimes it takes a little time and a little money.

Well here it is 5 years later and I still have these problems. haha

When we start the car it will run for 2-3 seconds and stall. it will do this until the starter cut is enabled {Security}.
After it stalls {before the security cut out kicks in} I can flip my key, use my wife's key or hit under the steering column and the van will start and run like normal.

I have been told that the key isn't being read by the switch some times and that is why it does this.

Any one else have seen this problem? Is a new switch the remedy?

Sounds like the SKIM module in the steering column is headed south or the wiring to it.
