Starting Issues

Ok I'm new to this whole thing so please bear with me. I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado Z71 with a 5.7/350. Yesterday I started to have problems, when I went out to the truck it would crank but it wouldn't start up. It's done this once before and I changed the plugs,wires, distributor cap, and the rotor and it fired right bak up.Keep in mind I did this only 4 days prior to the current mishap I'm dealing with at the moment. Now I've gone ahead and I've put a new fuel pump on and relay switch, thinking it wasn't pumping any fuel, because when you look into the carb it's dry. Even after all that hassel it still will not turn over, it just cranks. If anyone has any answers that could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

that's a lot of parts replaced on A GUESS, i must say.
1. you have OBD2 installed, scan for codes, that's number one and a must step.
2. it's always the BIG THREE: gas, spark, and timing. one of them at fault - no ding-ding. so, you bild up your investigative tree from those on.

on a quick note, did you change distributor cap gasket same time? moisture in cap is killer for the spark.
also, check your coolant temp sensor. it is said to block starts on GM vehicles if mulfunctioning.
in general, if your carb is dry - then Mr. Gas is a culprit.
out of practical experience - try firing her up in a pitch black place/at night, and watch plug wires. you could see power leaks if any. but on V8, it should start off 2 cylinders, or, at least, catch and hesitate.
i'd say, scan and follow the troubleshooting guides.

A good fuel pressure testing gauge and a spark tester is a lot cheaper than throwing parts at it.
Got fuel pressure up to specs ?
Got good hot blue spark to all spark plugs?
How did a 97 get a carb on it?

dump some gas into carb...If it starts then its fuel supply...if not check for spark if none ,, good chance its CPS....these usually cause intermittent start run problems and this with no DTC codes.....

If you have codes to report let us know what you found....
