Greasing light bulbs before install?

A friend of mine suggested that I grease the metal contact points of light bulbs on my 1991 GMC Sonoma when I change them, to avoid having them get stuck later on (I just had to remove a stuck one, very nasty).
For break, backup, turn signal, hood light, etc.

Has anyone tried this, or know if it's safe? My friend does it on all of his trucks with no problem, but I'm still a little unsure about it. :confused:

I would not use just plain grease here , if you want to do this use di-electric grease.

Di-electric grease is used anywhere moisture and corrosion are more frequent...use it also on your trailer plug-in also. Another product you might be able to use is in a spary can it's mainly used on ignition componets to prevent water from drowning out your plug wires. (unfortunatly I forget what it was called) but most automotive stores carry it

yah and don't use that much when you do put them in.i've seen them globbed in there a no need to have that much grease..but yes a little grease.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll check NAPA auto parts and see what they've got in that catagory.
