94 Jimmy CPI question.

Hi all, new guy here.
Anyway I was wondering if y'all could with me with a problem I have.
About three weeks ago I started having problems with my 94 Jimmy.
The engine would start missing at random times when driving, and sometimes it would not even start, and other times it would start just fine.
I checked the fuel filter, the wiring for the coil, fuel pump, modules, and the computer itself, everything seem to be tight with clean connections.
I finally decided that it had to be a fuel problem that was caused by a electrical problem.
So today I started going through all of the electrical systems that had anything to do with fuel delivery, and when I got to the two wires to go through the lower intake to the CPI unit I could pull or push the wires and the engine would either died or start missing.
So I took off the upper intake and got to the CPI unit and found that in addition to the the connector on the CPI being loose, the entire CPI unit as well as the upper and lower intakes were just soked with oil and there was oil pooled in the lower intake.
I am pretty sure that the oil/oil vapor came from the EGR system and got in because of a broken gasket.(someone before me had taken it apart and put a damaged gasket in instead of a new one.)
Anyway I guess my question in this long winded story is what can I use to clean the oil/carbon off of the CPI unit and the injectors that will not melt/dissolve them??
I thought about using carb clean but I really want to be sure that it will not melt/dissolve a $300.00 part.
Sorry again for the long story and thanks for any info.
Mike.

Good find on the wiring.
As long as there is no gas leakage at fuel pressure regulator I would just leave it alone as far as cleaning.
Might wipe out oil puddles.
Replace the wiring to injectors.
And it should be good to go.
Good Luck
