Hi,
First post and I have an odd start-up problem. Over the past two years, there have been occasions when my 1998 Altima won't start-up. This always happens after I've driven the car for 5-10 minutes and have made a stop for some reason. It doesn't always do this. I can drive the care for 5-10 minutes, stop and it will start up again just fine, but this is always the case when the start-up problem occurs. If I let the car sit for 3-4 hours it will eventually start up and everything is fine. When it doesn't start, I'll turn the key and it won't even attempt to crank. All I hear is a click in the stearing column. My headlights, dashboard, radio, etc. all still work, it just won't crank.
I was wondering if it was the disengage in the automatic shifter. I move it around but that never helps. The only thing that seems to work is to let it sit for a few hours. This leads me to believe something needs to cooldown? It's probably only happened 5-6 times in the last two years, so I can live with it. It just always creeps up at the most inopportune times. Any thoughts?
