My daughter has a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan that misses when the A/C is running.

Any help on where to start diagnosing the problem will be greatly appreciated.

Try doing the key dance for codes, turn key on/off, on/off, onwithin 5 seconds without starting engine and any codes present should show up in the odometer.

Which engine? Mileage, when was last tuneup?

Post any codes

It is the 3.8L engine with 107245 miles. My daughter doesn't know when the last tuneup was, so my guess is that it has been too long.

It is showing codes P1684 and P0303.

Thanks again.

Code 0303 shows as a "Misfire detected in cylinder #3".

Sounds like a good tune-up may be in order, but what do others think?

Yup tuneup , do both plugs and wires . My guess they have never been done , they have "supposed" 100K plugs but don't believe it .Ours in our 2004 lasted about 50K before a plug went faulty and i just had all the plugs and wires done at 72K because it was missing. Miss fixed!!!!!!!!

Definately do a tune up. I have a 2001 Grand Caravan that did the same thing. Go for the whole kit and caboodle. Plugs, wires, and a good clean out. Don't go for aftermarket wires either. Did that and it screwed up the plugs I put in which were OEM plugs and froze a plug in the head. So guess what,,,new head. Do the $500 tune up and save yourself the $1,500 new head.

I did a tuneup on my Van. ended up going for the expensive 100K+ plugs. Those 3 plugs on the backside are a PITA! I also replaced the plug wires. Need to go from the bottom up to get to the plugs. Alongside the exhaust.
