I have a 1994 Chevy Caprice classic station wagon. The engine light is on, but when I go to read the code..I get no code. Please HELP!

Are you reading the code with a proper reader/scanner for that model year car? That was a transition period. The plug looks like an OBDII plug but it's not OBDII.
If you are using the right plug, the light is on and no code would indicate a computer malfunction.

What reader are you using? One that has a display or one that is supposed to make the CEL flash??
The 94 was NOT a transition, it has an OBD1 port but is advanced OBD1 and the glorified paperclip "scanners" that are supposed to flash the code through the CEL will not work. The overwhelming majority of the time guys have a complaint like yours they are trying to use those older style scanners because there is a lot of bad documentation out there claiming they will work on 94-5, but they will not.
