situation - bought 02 Lancer OZ Rally for 4600. its a rebuildable so the whole trunk is gone. but thats not the point. i bought this car for 4600 and i want to know if its worth keeping? basically does it have a lot of potential or is it just a Piece of Sh*t? im kind of broke so i cant afford an EVO. but this i couldnt pass up. im willing to sell it if it isnt worth putting money into. so please if anyone can give me some input it will be appreciated. also .. if it is worth it, what can i do? etc etc

thanks .. smoke some weed guys

It has as much potential as you have money to put into it. Same as just about any car. It's not the cheapest to work on if that's what you mean. The aftermarket isn't huge, but it ain't terrible. I should have mine back in a week or so. I'll let you know how well she drives with a proper turbo setup. I've driven a boosted Lancer at 6psi and the thing pics up pretty damn quickly. IMO the kit on it was far from ideal and it was pretty impressive. You never appreciate how short first gear really is until your turbo's spooling. ;)

Anywho, best project car? No. Fun to play with and tune? Absolutely. And they handle pretty damn well for a 16k econobox.

thanks for the insight man. so im assuming u just threw a turbo on yours? what kind of turbo? wat other mods u throw into it? ... its not a question of MONEY but more a question of WORTHABILITY .. ( is that a word? ) .. i know the lancer isnt an OFF THE LINE car, its not a drag racer. but ive heard the handling is pretty damn good. thats what id want to do to the car, have enough power to be out when i want and still be able to handle well. i dont care about quarter miles or racing, as much as the FUN-meter of driving. i just want to make sure that its worth the money. and i dont care too much about juice either.

Well, actually I haven't driven my Lancer in about 6 weeks. I'll have it back in a week...two tops. It handles a lot better than the bone stock '91 MX-6 LX I've been driving in the meantime, but that's not saying terribly much. Honestly, I think this one's way too subjective for a clear answer again. If you know your car's limits and how far you can push it then you'll have fun with it. If you under or overestimate that's when you run into trouble.

Personally did I have fun driving my car? Yup. It's a lot more responsive (in both steering and throttle) and fun than any other econobox I've ever driven. It's no sports car, but hey...that's what makes tuning so much fun, right? ;) I'd much rather have a sleeper I can push than a ridiculously fast car whose limits I'll never know.

Sup man... i think you should keep it. I have an 02 OZ and I have found plenty of shit for it... I am currently converting it to an EVO 7 style Mitsu... check out roadracemotorsports.com or rpw.com.au or even body-kits.com...check 'em out. you'll see.
