Problem with brakes

I just changed the rotors and pads my 99 Intrigue. On the right side of the car it seems like only the top portion of the pads are making contact with the rotor, ie I can only see wear on the outer part of the rotor. What could be the problem?

Also I'm not sure if this is related but after the brake job I noticed the fluid had risen above the maximum in the reservoir so I had to take some out.

Almost sounds like a caliper issue. I assume you had to back the caliper out a little bit to remove it? Thats pretty standard procedure and it will make your fluid level rise. But it sounds like the caliper isnt pushing back in properly.

Sounds to me like you have the wrong rotor on the car. There are 2 different front rotors for this car, an 11" and a 12". The 12 " rotor is for the Autobahn package, (I believe that the RPO is FE3, not sure). I had a similar issue on mine, the pads were replaced at sometime with the 12" rotor pads, but they failed to put the 12" rotors on, they used the 11" rotors instead. This left me with pads that didn't engage the first .5 inches, looked pretty strange after a few thousand miles... You might want to check and make sure that you have the correct pads with the correct rotors. I bet you don't!:evillol:

The pads are the same irregardless of which rotors you have on. The only differences are the caliper bracket and the rotor itself, the pads and caliper are the same whether you have 11 or 12 inch rotors.

The option code for the heavy duty brakes is JA9, check the sticker on your trunk to see if you have it.

But it sounds like the OP is describing something wear both pads arent making contact with the rotor, not that they are not making full contact.

I think we need clarification haha.

I have the 11" rotors. I will snap some pictures for you guys tomorrow so you can see what I mean. It really is wierd.
