is there a way to adjust the hoold latch release cable or have to replace the cable

Make sure you grease the latch. Mine started to stick and not engage - I cleaned off the parts (all of the latch components including the rusted arms that were semi-seized) wth some WD40 and a wire brush and then slathered some grease on them - works like new.
