My car is a busted piece of crap. (Ugh)

Aside from that I love it.
My biggest question here is, what should I expect to pay for a repair stemming from my overheating the car- Ive been without it for almost 2 months now, first it was a head gasket? that had to be sent to a machine shop- then I had a timing problem (I think this took the better part of a month) and now Im being told Im going to need a timing chain.
I should probably tell you what Ive got- its a 98 Taurus Station wagon- dont know anything about the engine. Single owner before me, well maintained with prompt repairs, and driven daily, but never on more than a 2 hour stretch without stopping.
My car has a myriad of issues, small ones and the previously mentioned big ones.
Some of the small things would be-
My handheld battery powered door-unlocking thing (haha) doesnt work. (And no, it isnt the batteries)
My window likes to just decide not to come back up
When I roll my window up or down at night with my head lights on, my lights flicker, and all the lights in my instrument panel flicker.
For a while my AC/Heat was out- I was told it was a blower motor- but found that large pot holes, or banging/kicking under the passenger side dash board would remedy the problem temporarily.
And when it rains, my car just periodically and abruptly decides to not have any power steering. (This is fun for those quick right hand turns that you think you can make until your car says NOPE- and it takes every bit of strength you have in your arms to keep from colliding with the cars passing by in the 2nd lane)
I replaced my blower motor the day before my car decided to die on me.
Much to my surprise when I turned my AC on to LOW it blew full force into my face, and as I turned the knob to higher settings, noticed absolutely no increase in air pressure- on is ON and off is off now. Ok, whatever, at least it works.
Then the day my car died, everything was fine- and the AC started cutting off, and back on, and off and back on, and so forth, and so on- and then my car started to feel very sluggish, like, it felt as though everything mechanical inside a car that moves it forward, just stopped moving. There wasnt a lurch, or any odd noises, just a resistence to keep up with speed. I made my way to the edge of the road and then came the smoke.
Also- the compartment which houses the spare tire in the back section of the wagon- seems to have been held into place once by tiny pins of some sort? I think I remember them being plastic just like the case- is it possible to purchase replacements for those, so that my tire doesnt fall out of the compartment all over my groceries all of the time?
OH And not one single key I have will easily open the lock on the driver side door, for some reason, it just never wants to turn? All of a sudden it just decided to crap out on me? There have been times Ive had to unlock the passenger door, and use the PDL button to gain access to the driver side.
Ive (within the last year) replaced the alternator, and had every single light on the backside of the car go out- except my reverse light- I believe in the end that was some sort of wiring issue.
Any comments/tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:
