My wife has a 2000 Taurus Sedan. Not always but getting more frequent when she turns the steering there is a loud sqeeking noise like rubber rubbing together. Any idea where to begin looking? I checked for grease fittings but everything is sealed.

If you still have all original front end parts, there won't be any grease fittings. You can look in this forum with the search feature on the Taurus main page to find others' experiences probably under noisy or squeaky front or like. My experience has been the outer tie rod ball joint has gotten dry and making that noise. The lower control arm ball joint can do this as well as, but less frequently the inner tie rod end. That covers all of the joints involved with steering, but you could maybe having something rubbing on the steering rack, but your description of a gradual increase in noise and turning the wheel fits the first three mentioned in decreasing order of likelyhood from my experience.

Agreed, assuming the noise is not a squeal due to a slipping belt. Does it make any similar noise when going over bumps as well?
