When you take a cat to get fixed, aren't you in fact breaking the cat?

I dont think it's considered "breaking" the cat, its just an -ectomy procedure(not sure what the prefix for removing a cats testicles, unless its the same as a vasectomy) besides, "fixing" is only a figure of speech, so does it really matter?

Then how is the cat "fixed"? I mean that the cat itself is not fixed, but perhaps the problems that might arise from not having the cat "fixed" are now fixed - or maybe I'm making less sense now.

pretty much:) This is one of those things that people really shouldnt look to far into, even if they can. as I said before, to fix the cat is a figure of speech, and really doesnt mean what it states, it's just been adopted as an acceptable term.
